SUMMARY:
Position of a Senior DBA Architect will lead and manage a Database Administrator Group consisting of 10 Database Administrators providing support for large enterprise brokerage firms.

The DBA Group is responsible for maintenance and changes to Broadridge’s existing mission-critical DB2 Mainframe Full Lifecycle DBMS. The environment consists of 2 data-sharing Groups (Production), 11 members, and responsible for Testing, QA, and UAT environments.

There is a total of 20 DB2 Subsystems, using Version 12, containing 800+ DB2 databases and 22,000 tables, utilizing 30+ Terabytes of data.

THE WORK
Implement complex data models, database designs, data access methods and perform all aspects of Database and Table maintenance and Administration.

Resolve complex database performance issues, database capacity issues, SQL related issues and other distributed data issues.

Analyze DB2 statistics (system, buffer pool, thread, database, utility.)

Collaborate/Guide/Mentor/Advise IT team members, specifically Application Development team members with administrative policies, system navigation and system manuals (functionality), resolving issues needing technical expertise or complex system/database knowledge, demonstrate data manipulation techniques, and ensure they are following proper procedures.

Responsible for Storage management, backup & recovery, monitoring, and maintaining ongoing performance of databases to make changes according to business needs.

Design technical solutions and prep for other DBA team members to work on.

Support internal Disaster Recovery program across a GDPS, Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED
– 1-3 years of experience in managing a DBA/DB2 team.
– 5-7 years of experience in DB2 database administration.
– Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain DB2 databases.
– Strong knowledge of DB2 database management system products, including CA/Platinum.
– Knowledge of Disk storage mechanisms.
– Experience using DB2 Utilities, Backup, Recovery, Load, Check, Runstats, REORG.
– Experience using OMEGAMON XE for Accounting reports and DB2 performance.
– Experience with Platinum products: Detector, SA-Analyzer, Log-Analyzer, etc.
– Knowledge of programming languages helpful (COBOL, Java, SQL, REXX)
– Good communication skills to consult with different departments when needed.
